Project Reveal: Cascade Strategies
When Jon Black of Cascade Strategies contacted me about a website, he knew it didn't need a lot of bells and whistles. He simply wanted to establish a web presence for his company that could grow in the years to come.
To kickoff this project, I forwarded Jon a brief questionnaire and scheduled a call to discuss his company's needs, budget and timeline. During our call I suggested creating a simple landing page, and asked if he had a company logo. Jon forwarded a logo purchased through an inexpensive DIY site and mentioned it might need some updating. He explained he used triangles to represent the mountains of Utah where he grew up and named his business after a mountain behind his childhood home.
After taking a look, I knew his logo had potential. I loved the thought behind it and suggested I take his vision and create a new logo Jon would be proud to call his own. We ended our call excited to move forward, and I let him know a proposed contract would be coming soon.

Proposed contracts are something I provide to each client and consider to be a crucial first step in ensuring everyone is starting on the same page and has a clear vision for moving forward. Each contract outlines the specifics of a project including its scope of work, deliverables, deadlines, and fees. Once Jon had a chance to review his contract, I was delighted to receive its immediate approval.
To begin Cascade Strategies' project, I took Jon's original logo and recreated it in a fresh new way. I designed 4 sample logos for Jon's review and was thrilled to hear he had chosen design option 2 with no edits. He mentioned really liking option 3 as well so we decided to use it as a secondary logo.
Once we had the logo selected, I went to work on a landing page for Cascade Strategies. Jon wanted something clean with simple text that he could point people to when they asked for information.
Knowing Jon would like the option of growing his site in the future, I secured his URL, created his Squarespace site, and completed his brand by designing his business card and email signature.
If there's one thing I've learned about marketing over the last 15 years, it's that every business is unique. Too often, marketing and design companies try to fit their clients into a neat little box, but for me, I prefer creating customized solutions that are best for my clients.
Marketing is expensive, and I don't want anyone paying for anything they don't need. That's why I offer a Client First Solution, designed specifically around each client's needs and budget.
To complete the Cascade Strategies project, I provided Jon with a series of deliverables including logo files, a style guide explaining everything he needs to know about his company's brand, a link to his site's Google Analytics account, along with a number of other items.

Working with Jon on Cascade Strategies' brand and website was a great honor, and I look forward to working with him again on future projects.
To close out this project I asked Jon a few questions to get his thoughts on how the project went, and if he would recommend Six40 Marketing to others. Below are his responses. Is there anything about your project or the process that surprised you? "Not really. I thought everything went very smoothly and as expected. That's why I wanted to work with you." How do you feel about your project results? Feel free to get specific on any details you wish to share. "I think they're great! I like how the logo evolved to include color, and how we worked together to make it all fit." Would you recommend Six40 Marketing to others? If so, what would you tell them about your project and/or experience? "Absolutely. Melinda is great, and very easy work with. She's both friendly and professional. |
